Offshore Work: Work that takes place outside the coastline, usually on a vessel or platform. A 12-hour minimum will apply.

Channel 16 : The emergency channel on Marine VHF radios.

ILB : Inshore Lifeboat. As well as a fleet of all weather lifeboats.

SAR :Search and Rescue.

SMB : Surface Marker Buoy. A highly visible buoy connected to the diver by a strong thin line and reel. Enables a cover boat to keep track of the divers. Useful on drift dives.

Stabjacket : Refers to the jacket style bouyancy control device. Used to differentiate between the jacket style and the horsecollar style.

VHF : Marine VHF radio.
